c1920 Norway Norge Cased Set of Enamelled Silver Spoons

A fine Vintage antique c1920 Cased Set of 6 enamelled Sterling silver (925) teaspoons by the renowned Norwegian silversmith Theodor Olsens Eftf, of Bergen.

The spoons have been gilded and decorated with blue, green and white enamels. They are stamped on the back with the silver content mark 925 S and the logo for Theodor Olsens. They are set in a fitted case, which is lined in cream silk and velvet. The inside of the lid has ‘Theodor Olsens Eft. Juvelerforretning Bergen’ in gold letters. The teaspoons and case are in very good condition, apart from a little damage to the enamel on one of the spoons.

Theodor Olsen company was founded in 1868, in Bergen which was Norway’s foremost silversmithing city. At that time there were as many silversmiths in Bergen alone, as there were in the rest of the country. Olsen brought international expertise along when he arrived in this artisan-rich environment. He established his own sterling silversmith and store in 1868 and quickly became a leader in Bergen’s arts and crafts community.
