c1887 Pair of Silver Plated Chocolate Pots by Mappin & Webb

A handsome pair of late Victorian Silver Plated Cocoa Chocolate Pots by the renowned silversmiths Mappin & Webb.

The pots have a baluster shape, with side handles and semi fluted bottoms, that rest on 3 feet. The hinged lids also have the twist fluted decoration. Unusually, one handle is made of marine walrus ivory (Odobenus rosmarus), whilst the other is in ebony wood. The bases are stamped MAPPIN & WEBB – PRINCESS PLATE – R. 71553. Condition is good, although there is some wear to the silver plate. As this is on nickel, it doesn’t show much.
