A novel and attractive EPNS egg coddler, made by ‘JR&S’ of Sheffield, circa 1890.

The base is stamped with the following: “JR&S” (John Round and Sons), “EPNS” and company trademark “All the Round.” John Round & Sons were active between 1840 and 1890.

The lid is dome-shaped and decorated with a bird that loosely resembles a kingfisher. The inside compartment has a removable rack with room for 5 eggs, small by modern standards. A detachable wick and fuel compartment can be seen on the lower tray.
