c1920 USA Silver Plated Coffee Percolator & Burner

A very unusual and rare American silver plated Coffee Percolator, with its own spirit burner, in good condition.

The percolator consists of an urn with a tap, standing on 3 legs. Between the legs is a dish on which sits the spirit burner. The urn contains a filter reservoir for the ground coffee, with a pipe through which rises the steam to percolate down through the coffee and into the reservoir. The top lid has a Pyrex glass hublot, in order to tell the percolator is working.

The silver plated on copper percolator has the maker’s mark of Landers, Frary & Clark, New Britain, Conneticut, USA. It has the patent dates for 1894 to 1919, as well as the German DRGM acceptance. Whilst the urn on stand and lid are silver plated, the burner is copper. The reason for this is not clear. The burner is also patented 1906 and stamped MADE IN U.S.A.

The condition is very good, without any bumps, but the plating has worn thin on some of the edges of the legs and lid. This does not detract from this highly desirable item.
