c1930 Regency Sheffield Silverplate Warm Toast Dish

A fine quality, Georgian Regency Sheffield Silver Plated Toasted Cheese Dish in very good condition.

The rectangular dish has a hinged lid and a turned wooden carrying handle. The handle unscrews in order to expose the fill hole for hot water. This ensures that the dish remains warm. The lid has an impressive finial, resembling a lotus flower, with acanthus leaves. On the underside of the base is a stamp mark in the form of a Fleur de Lis. This is the mark used on silverplate by I & I Waterhouse & Co., of Sheffield, England.
