Product Description

A good quality Victorian silver plated hot water lidded jug.

The jug has a tapered fluted design with extensive scroll work and central blank cartouches for engraving family crests or monograms. The handle has insulating bone washers, indicating that it is designed to contain a hot drink. The size is quite large and it will hold over a litre (2 pints) of liquid.

On the base is a registration mark, which indicates a construction date of 25th November 1870. There are no maker's marks that we can see. Condition is very good, with the silver plate intact in a all but the underside and where the thumb rests on the lid.

Size: 10 x 17.5 x 20.5cm (4 x 6 7/8 x 8 inches)
Weight: 594g
