1901 Chester Sterling Silver 3 Piece Tea Service Set

A large, heavy and attractive early Edwardian Sterling Silver 3 piece tea service set.

The set comprises a teapot, a sugar bowl and cream jug. The teapot’s serving handle and the finial on the lid are both made of a very dark brown wood. All 3 pieces are hallmarked for the Chester Assay, with the date stamp of 1901 (in fact it appears that the Assay Office hadn’t produced the new set of stamps, with a downward tail to the cartouche, and appear to have used a similar but earlier stamp from 1726). The maker’s marks correspond to John Millward Banks of Northampton Street, Birmingham.

The condition is very good with no apparent knocks or bruising.
