Dinky Toys Meccano Leyland Comet Lorry 531 Near Mint and Box

A really nice, near mint example of c1949 Dinky Supertoys 531 Leyland Comet lorry with its original box of issue.

The truck would qualify as mint if it wasn't for a couple of small cuffs caused by taking it out of its box. The only criticism would be that the front grey rubber wheels have deformed in storage. The cardboard box is in very fine condition and has the pencil marked price of 5 shillings, The Dinky range were created by Frank Hornby in 1933 and are amongst the most highly prized of diecast toys. The 3rd edition (1989) of the Dinky Toy Price Guide by Frank Thompson, lists it at £95.00. However prices of good examples have rocketed in the last few decades.
