c1880 Cased Large Pocket Barometer by Negretti & Zambra

A very nice example of a c1880 quality large pocket barometer in its original leather case.

The barometer itself, is finished in a gilded metal cylinder with a possible suspension loop removed, which is not surprising given its weight. The barometer has a 68mm (2 5/8 inches) white face, graduated in inches. The face is marked with the maker's name NEGRETTI & ZAMBRA – LONDON and numbered 1384. There is a rotating bezel that permits checking the needle movement. The rear of the barometer has a small screw to adjust the barometric pressure depending on altitude. The barometer comes with its original protective leather over wood case. The case is in reasonable condition. The stud button opener is faulty. The inside is lined in red silk and velvet. The barometer appears to be in good working condition.
